World’s Worst Hat Idea
From time to time, I come across some very strange knit or crochet patterns while shopping online for yarn and patterns. However, I believe I have found the world’s lamest idea ever.
Material Whirled sells a Christmas Tree Hat Kit on their website.
For a mere 58 dollars, you can buy enough hand-spun yarn to create this lovely hat:
What’s interesting to note is that the ornaments are actually spun into the yarn, so imagine unravelling a big ball of yarn, and occasionally coming across a cheap plastic shiny ornament. The tree topper is included in the package, but you must sew it on yourself when the project is completed.
As Mr. Fanrastic has pointed out, this hand-spun yarn is akin to making your own pasta from scratch, but in the process adding something that makes it completely inedible (say, for instance, rocks).
I guess I know what I’ll be making him for Christmas this year.
Update: It’s possible that the company doesn’t like bad reviews. I had to update the linkies. :)

It seems to me that you are an extremely negative piece of garbage. I haven’t read anything on this blog yet that is positive and uplifting. I also tried the links for the “negative review” comment and it appears that there is a new site. That’s why the links didn’t work moron. LOL the tree hats must have sold pretty well to afford a new site. I bet you couldn’t get 58 dollars for your rocks in pasta. You’re not smart enough. In fact I doubt if you’ll even put this post in this piece of crap blog. If you do have the courage to do it then I will have to say I’m impressed that you can handle the negative review.

Hi Ralph,
Welcome to Fanrastic. How’s the weather in Virginia? I hear it’s intolerable this time of year.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through a difficult phase in your life, and that we don’t have enough positive and uplifting content to brighten your bleak and abysmal day. Hang in there, Ralph! We need people like you! But I’m sure you were already smart enough to realize that.
You’ll be happy to know that registering and hosting a domain can be surprisingly affordable! For $58, you can get a domain for a year and several months of e-commerce-enabled web hosting. Pretty sweet deal, eh?
Ralph, you should never underestimate the power of eBay. I’m sure there’s somebody out there who would pay a pretty penny for rocks in pasta, just the same as another person would pay the same for a Christmas tree hat. It’s a big world, Ralph, and we all have our little part to play.
Thanks for stopping by!

Let me be the first to say that DIY hats are always a bad idea.
